Badlapur actress Radhika Apte is making every girl smile with her simple yet powerful message on womanhood, sexuality, beauty and growing up. She breaks the conventional expectations that society thrusts on women by default. But she does it lovingly. In a video created by Blush, a popular YouTube channel, the actress stumbles upon a picture of her teenage self and talks to her past, about the challenging yet beautiful life that lies ahead of her.
Radhika’s advice to her younger self is not something out of the ordinary, but it strikes a chord. It’s all that women today would and should say to their daughters, just two words- You’re Beautiful.
It’s something we women don’t tell ourselves often enough. Neither do we live lives entirely on our own terms yet. Radhika says “Apni zindagi ke chhote bade hisse kiraye pe mat dena”, talking about the varied roles that women play, and in the process, some lose grip of who they really are.
