A short film produced by fashion portal Myntra touches a poignant chord with urban women working professionals. Titled The Calling, this two-minute film lays bare the most obvious sexism that pregnant women have to deal with at a workplace.

This ad resonates especially with me because I experienced similar behaviour at very close quarters; my sister was pregnant last year and her organisation, a very esteemed publishing house, meted out similar treatment to her. More that being disheartened, she was disillusioned as her colleague was being unceremoniously promoted because my sister would be unavailable due to her pregnancy.

Apte’s effortless portrayal of a successful yet frustrated architect deconstructs the roles that the society expects a pregnant woman to do - sit at home and kiss her career a goodbye.

Watch this till the end and do clap at the unexpected twist.

Well done, Apte!
