Noida police has deployed a unique way to keep women safe — if any ‘Roadside Romeo’ is found harassing girls on the road, he will be given a red card!

These "red cards" will be served through the Anti-Romeo squads, i.e. male and female sleuths who will be deployed in public places in plainclothes, as per BTVi. The card will also serve as a final warning to the said ‘Romeo’, as per this Indian Express report.

Not only this, the person’s details like name, address, mobile number, etc. will be stored in a register and strict action will be taken if he is found committing the act again.

Men who follow women or pass comments at them and violate their space can expect to be handed out this card. Noida Police hopes that the red cards will help curb eve teasing and street harassment.

The red card is essentially a non-coercive measure which will serve as a warning to those who harass women verbally or non-verbally. The card is aimed at serving as a deterrent to people who make women feel unsafe
Vineet Jaiswal, SP (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar to The Indian Express

The red card is not the only strategy which the Noida Police will be employing. It has also distributed feedback forms at schools, colleges and coaching centres, seeking suggestions from women to help them map out areas where women feel most vulnerable.
