Ties with kurta and pants were seen at the Abraham and Thakore show presented at Amazon India Fashion Week 2017

Ties have long signaled dependability and authority for men. But why did women never think of wearing them? And more importantly, why didn’t it ever occur to us that while we depended on the humble, slightly-difficult-to-manage dupatta as an accessory to our salwar kameez, we could ditch it altogether and simply wear a red necktie instead?

Trust designer duo Abraham and Thakore to break gendered conventions of clothing and knot in ties to women’s ethnic clothing.

Primarily created with Indian textiles made by hand, the collection “Back To Work” showcased at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week presented different separates in pure cotton. The designer duo is of the belief that light separates are actually great for summers as one can easily navigate the dressing option for an air conditioned room versus a non air conditioned setting.

Madder, ivory, indigo and black dominated in terms of the colours.
