Director Rohit Shetty has done what the film industry thought was an impossible feat - he’s bringing Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn together for Kajol’s big comeback film Dilwale. Both Shah Rukh and Ajay have always maintained a distant and rather cold relationship despite Kajol’s presence.

Remember what Kajol said when Ajay Devgn’s name cropped up on an episode of Koffee With Karan featuring her and Shah Rukh Khan?

“My on-screen chemistry with Shah Rukh never bothered Ajay. People like to believe the worst, so they rumored that he asked me not to work with Shah Rukh, which is completely untrue.” - Kajol on Koffee With Karan

The two men are now keeping aside their differences, with Devgn reportedly agreeing to do a cameo for Rohit Shetty’s new film featuring SRK and Kajol in the lead.

The SRK - Devgn tiff came out in the open in 2012 when Jab Tak Hai Jaan starring Shah Rukh apparently reserved a large chunk of single screens for its release, leaving very few theaters for Ajay Devgn’s release Son of Sardar. Devgn took legal recourse by complaining to The Competition Commission of India, after which Kajol’s absence from the premiere of Jab Tak Hai Jaan was seen as a sign of her taking sides with her husband.

Kajol further added fuel to fire by ranking Ranbir Kapoor as a better actor than Shah Rukh Khan in the latest season of Koffee With Karan last year.

Devgn is extremely close to Rohit Shetty, having been a part of the director’s blockbusters, such as the Golmaal series and the two Singham outings. Shetty reportedly said that it wasn’t hard to get Devgn to agree to do a cameo in Dilwale since he wanted to be a part of Kajol’s comeback. And SRK wouldn’t have a problem since he is indebted to Shetty for giving him his career’s biggest grosser - Chennai Express. So all’s well that ends well.

Apart from Shah Rukh, Kajol & Ajay Devgn, Dilwale will also feature Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Kabir Bedi and Vinod Khanna.
