BB King, known for his hits My Lucille, Sweet Little Angel and Rock Me Baby, died in his sleep in Las Vegas on May 14th 2015, according to a BBC report. Once ranked as the third greatest guitarist of all time, he had been suffering ill health in recent months. US President Barack Obama had the pleasure of jamming with the blues star in 2012. Born in Mississippi, King began performing in the 1940s and went on to influence a generation of musicians including Eric Clapton and U2. Watch the legend live in action at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011.

He was recently taken to hospital with a diabetes-related illness. Musicians and celebrities sent their prayers and goodbyes via social media.
