Paris Fashion Week has turned out to be a nightmare for Vogue magazine’s style editor Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis. The 32 year old posted a photograph of a homeless woman on the streets of Paris reading an issue of the fashion magazine she works for. While the fashionista was happy to come across this most unlikely reader, her photograph and comment below have created a fury on social media, criticising the German princess as someone who is disturbingly out of touch with reality.

Popularly known as ‘TNT’ in the fashion circuit, Elisabeth started writing for the US Vogue in 2012. Though her royal lineage and taste for luxury might have worked well for the magazine but readers at large are of the opinion that her writing and thoughts expressed through the Vogue and on social media are detached from reality, as royalty stereotypically is. Style news website Fashionista was the first to report on the picture. A majority of those who commented on her post held the opinion that Elisabeth has crossed a line and her post is outright ‘cruel’ and ‘tasteless’.

The wealthy princess defended herself in a comment saying “Why Cruel? The person to me is as dignified as anyone else!”

But 5 hours later, she took down the photograph she had posted and apologised for hurting any sentiments saying “I wanted to extend my sincerest apologies for the offence my post has caused, Yours truly Elisabeth.”
