India’s Test captain Virat Kohli cleared all the speculation over his impending engagement with Anushka Sharma on Friday. The Delhi lad tweeted that if he and Anushka were getting engaged, they wouldn’t have hidden it.
The rumour mills were abuzz on Thursday about the couple exchanging rings on 1 January 2017 in a small, private ceremony in Uttarakhand. Among the expected invitees were Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan along with his wife Jaya, and industrialist Anil Ambani and wife Tina.
All of them were photographed at the Dehradun airport on the morning of 29 December.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the couple was taking time off with Anushka’s parents in Tehri. And Virat’s mother was also expected to fly down to celebrate New Year with them.
Ringing in the New Year!
After the couple attended cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s wedding ceremony in Goa, they were spotted at Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport earlier this week. Kohli, who is Uttarakhand’s brand ambassador, and Anushka, celebrated Christmas in the hills – and are expected to ring in the New Year there, too.
The couple are residing in Hotel Ananda in Narendra Nagar, Uttarakhand.
Anushka acted in Sultan and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil this year.
Virat Kohli led India to a 4-0 Test series victory against England recently.
