According to data collected by Instagram, Indian fans are super excited about the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Research released by the platform shows that Indians rank number four globally when it comes to engagement related to Game of Thrones, from participating in discussions on fan theories and trivia to generally searching for and sharing GoT content.
Other countries that come out on top are the US, Brazil and Great Britain. In Asia, though India is number one when it comes to fans who can’t wait for the release of the final season.
Over the past month, some of the major trending Game of Thrones hashtags on Instagram in India were #gameofthrones, #got, #jonsnow, #forthethrone, #aryastark, #sansastark, #winteriscoming, #daenerystargaryen, #tyrionlannister and #winterishere.
The most talked about character in India, is of course Jon Snow. According to Instagram’s data, other characters that Indians enjoy watching include Daenerys Targaryen, Arya and Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister.
Within India, the highest volume of Game of Thrones related content on Instagram came from Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, followed by Hyderabad and Chennai.
Season 8 of Game of Thrones premieres on 14 April.
