Several snapshots from the preview of Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 stand out, as the attack on King’s Landing commences.
On one hand, there’s Tyrion Lannister approaching Daenerys Targaryen with fear on his face and on the other, Cersei looking over King’s Landing just like she did before burning down the Sept of Baelor in season 6.
In Dragonstone, Tyrion and Varys approach Daenerys as she sits on the throne. Perhaps, some pre-war planning?
The most interesting sequence is the one where we see the clouds and then a switch in Euron Greyjoy’s expression, from smile to dread as he looks up in the sky and hears the dragon’s roar. Could the dragon queen fly high enough so she goes completely unnoticed above the clouds and then swoop down in a surprise attack? If she does, that could be the end of Euron!
The preview sets the stage for the big Daenerys vs Cersei war, before we can finally get to who ends up on the Iron Throne.
