Ahead of her wild card entry into the Bigg Boss house, The Quint got in touch with Shefali Jariwala. Shefali Jariwala is most commonly remembered for appearing in the music video of song ‘Kaanta Laga’. In this interview, she opens up about her plans for the Bigg Boss house, whose game she admires the most and her own strategies for the reality show.
How are you feeling going in as a wild card entry? Because they always say there’s a little bit of a disadvantage when you do that.
No, I think there is quite an advantage to that. We already know so much about the people and the audience’s perception about the people when you go in. There are advantages as well as disadvantages. It’s up to you how you make that work in your favour once you go inside.
What made you take up Bigg Boss? Because you have not been in the limelight for some time. People remember you as ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl. So do you think this will help you re-establish your identity?
I think ever since my ‘Kaanta Laga’ days, I’ve really evolved and I have reinvented myself but I think I want the people to see the new Shefali. So that is one of the very big reasons for me to go to Bigg boss.
One of the most talked about contestant in the house is Siddharth Shukla and your name has been attached to him earlier. So how do you see it? Do you see it as friendship or dushmani (hostility) or something else? Especially once you enter the house.
Siddharth and I used to share a special friendship once upon a time. We haven’t been in touch for a very long time. But things between us have always been very cordial earlier also. But lately we have not been in touch. Now, once I enter the house, I don’t know how he will perceive me - whether he will see me as a potential ally or as a potential threat. So I think it all depends on how it is where we meet today after so many years.
So now that you’ve watched Bigg Boss from the outside, whose game did you enjoy the most and whose did you not like at all?
I really liked many people’s games a lot. Each for its unique reasons. Paras’ game is good because he is playing a very speculative game by having a lot of people on his side. I also like Sana’s game. Sana doesn’t have a game, she has a personality. I like her the way she is, even audience likes it. And that’s improving her game. So I like her game as well. I like Siddharth’s game because I think he is straight forward about it, he is real. So I like that quality about him. And there are a lot of people including me who like that quality. So yeah, there are a lot of people who have a strong game in the house.
So have you thought about how you would be inside the house? Strategies or anything?
I thought a lot but I did not come down to any conclusion because I don’t think I know how many people are being eliminated or who are the people entering the house with me. I think the best strategy for me would be to be real and just take every day as it comes.
