Sorry Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis! You may have got the world excited about your nuptials, but what kept us Indians glued to our mobiles all of last week, were the adorable newly weds- Mira Rajput and Shahid Kapoor.
In fact, Mira is kinda our desi version of Kate Middleton- poised yet simple, even though she married a biggie. So you can image our interest in what she says and what she wears!
But now that the wedding is over, we decided to go the ‘Dilli aunty’ way by taking the gossip around it, a bit further. Indian weddings are as important to us as our cricket and there is no point to them without the post-game-post-mortem.
The Anamika Khanna Look at the Haldi Ceremony
The bright yellow Anamika Khanna ensemble was a stellar pick! When the doyenne of Indian fashion, credited for styling fashionistas like Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone designs your trousseau herself, it has to be terrific!
The colour was simply perfect for the Haldi and Kaleera ceremony. But the jewellery was an overkill for an outfit that lacked a deep neckline. Just the flower tiara would’ve been exquisite. But kya karein? Indian weddings drive the global sale of gold!
The Anita Dongre Look at the Sangeet
Her maang tikas throughout the whole wedding were a hit! This traditional piece of jewellery worked well as a fashion statement for the young bride on every occasion. This was a tricky one to pull off, given that Mira doesn’t have the typically large Indian forehead.
Her sangeet look was elegantly non-diva. Mira looked fresh and fun in a pale yellow and peach Anita Dongre lehnga and we loved its subtle bling. The pastels compliment her age, her petite frame and were so well coordinated with Shahid’s deep red bandhgala.

Though social media went gaga over Mira’s pale pink Anamika Khanna wedding outfit, we found everything about it quite predictable. From the sequins to the borders, this ensemble seemed like a safe choice and didn’t really stand out as the bold statement that it should’ve been. But what her lehnga lacked, her jewellery and hair accessories more than made up for!

Chunky multicoloured jewellery: A-grade. Hats off!
The best part, Mira’s complete look complimented Shahid’s sharp and streamlined gorgeousness.
The Anamika Khanna Look at the Wedding Dinner
We would’ve loved this outfit, if it was Halloween! How could Mira go so wrong with her bridal dinner look?
We know she was trying to look edgy, breaking the stereotypical bridal avatar, but it clearly didn’t work. The half frilly-sheer cape on an ivory gown was just weird. Her jewellery didn’t go with the outfit either and the ensemble was way too old for someone as young as her.
The Manish Malhotra Look at the Mumbai Reception
Ah! Mira was a breath of fresh air at the couple’s Mumbai reception. A zillion times better than the wedding dinner fiasco for sure!
Mira’s Manish Malhotra sequinned crop top paired with a bright blue rose-printed long skirt was sheer class. Clearly the lady sets her own rules. A simple hairdo, minimalistic makeup and just the right amount of jewellery; elegant! Was I not saying she’s a bit like Kate Middleton?
However, a peeping tummy in a crop top is a universal fashion disaster. Ignoring that, the otherwise petite Mira looks resplendent in this dress.
Sorry Mira, the speculations and scrutiny have already begun! But now that you are a part of Bollywood’s inner circle, shutterbugs and the super critical media are likely to be a part of your life, for good.
