The day one box-office numbers for Jab Harry Met Sejal are in and they don’t look very good. The Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer has raked in Rs 15.25 crore in India, according to Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Expectations were that it would open to a figure around Rs 20 crore. The Imtiaz Ali film has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 90 crore. Even Shah Rukh Khan’s previous big release with Yash Raj Films - Fan, opened to Rs 19.20 crore while Raees opened to Rs 20.42 crore.

Salman Khan’s big release this year - Tubelight opened to Rs 21.15 crore and then went on to crash at ticket windows. Given that Shah Rukh Khan’s JHMS has not received glowing reviews, the lack of positive word-of-mouth could dent the film’s weekend box-office numbers as well.
