Plastic surgery gone wrong? Check
*slow clap*
The innovative and path-breaking content called Sasural Simar Ka that’s been running on Indian television since 2011 has reached a whole new level in suspension of disbelief. The soap opera has become the talk of the town because this time Simar (the protagonist in the story) has turned into, no not naagin (that’s cliche) but into a makkhi. Yes, this has happened.
Here’s why Sasural Simar Ka is incredibly ridiculous:
5. Ladies Turn Into Superhumans
The serial which was supposedly about women’s empowerment has seen the female characters turning into witches, evil spirits and of course a naagin, preaching that these supernatural elements do exist in our society.
4. It’s a Horror Show Too
The writers of this show are just not ready to give up. From naagin, daayan, Patali Devi, shaitaan to chandramani, Sasural Simar Ka also doubles up as a tacky horror show. Some supernatural powers inevitably take over the home of this hansta-khelta parivaar. Yaar decide karo ki kya karna hai, horror serial ya saas bahu serial ya mythological show?
3. Plastic Surgery Goes Epic Wrong
Fingers crossed please, nayi character koi hot actress ho... I am sure this is what Roli’s husband is thinking. Ok going back in time, Roli is Simar’s sister who is married to Simar’s brother-in-law which makes Roli Simar’s sister-in-law. Coming back to the point like every other serial here also Roli dies and guess what, 50 episodes later Roli is back. Wait for the twist, she goes through a plastic surgery, wait this is the mother of all twists – the doctors give her a different face altogether and she doesn’t even realise it till she reaches home. “Haye meri shakal itni sunder kaise ho gayi?” So basically this was plot introduced when Roli’s character decided to quit the show suddenly.
2. Add Game of Thrones
Just when we thought sab hade paar ho chuki hain the makers gave us a WTF! moment. A promo inspired by Game of Thrones: Hall of Faces left us in shock. If nothing else, the makers of this show are not short of ambition.
1. Simar Turns Into a Makkhi
And after topping Game of Thrones, the makers unabashedly take a note from the Telugu film Eega, which was remade as Makkhi in Hindi.
As far as Sasural Simar Ka goes any inspiration is game... we won’t be surprised if they try to bring in elements of James Cameron’s Avatar or Terminator next.
