1. Salman at Jodhpur Central Jail After Blackbuck Case Conviction

Bollywood actor Salman Khan was taken to Jodhpur Central jail in a police vehicle after being convicted in poaching case by a trial court on Thursday, 5 April, in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

He was sentenced to five years in prison. Additionally, a penalty of Rs 10,000 was also levied on him.

All of the other accused – Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam – have been acquitted by the court.

In an interview with Anupama Chopra on Film Companion, Deepika Padukone opened up about the need for a ‘Time’s Up’ movement in India, the perils of being constantly connected via social media and being the most successful Bollywood actor today. The Padmaavat star also spoke about her wedding rumours to Ranveer Singh that have been doing the rounds.

Deepika, in an interview a few years ago, had said that if she wouldn’t have been an actor, she would be a home-maker.

4. ‘Hindi Medium’ Outperforms ‘Dangal’ & ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in China

On its opening day, the Irrfan-starrer Hindi Medium amassed a staggering Rs 24.31 crore at the box office in China. It beat Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 14.61 crore) and Aamir Khan's Dangal (Rs 12.99 crore) by transcending their first day collections in the country.

The Saket Chaudhary directorial, produced by T-Series Films and Maddock Films, also stars Pakistani actress Saba Qamar. A sequel to the film is slated to be directed by Homi Adajania.

5. Malayalam Actor Kollam Ajith Passes Away Due to Stomach Ailment

Malayalam film star Ajith, known for portraying negative roles, died on Thursday at a private hospital, family sources said. According to a report in The Indian Expressthe actor was undergoing a treatment for his stomach at a private hospital in Kochi and passed away at 3.40 Am on 5 April.

Ajith, 56, was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago following health issues.

Ajith in a career spread over three decades, has acted in around 500 films, mostly in Malayalam besides a few in Tamil and Hindi.
