3. DDLJ Screened at Prestigious British Film Institute
Continuing its 20th-year celebrations, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) had a special screening at the iconic British Film Institute (BFI) in London. It was screened as part of BFI’s “Love: Films To Fall In Love With... Films To Break Your Heart”. Aditya Chopra’s DDLJ, starring superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, was showcased as “The Brave-hearted Will Take the Bride” and was the only Indian title at the BFI screening. 4. Sridevi Owes Us Money, Allege Puli Producers
The makers of Tamil fantasy drama Puli have claimed that actress Sridevi, who played an evil queen in the film, owed them Rs 20 lakh and contrary to her claims, they “didn’t owe her a single penny”. Sridevi had reportedly filed a complaint at the Mumbai Producer’s Council that the producers of Puli owe her Rs 50 lakh. In a four-page statement, producers Thameens and PT Selvakumar said they signed the actress for their film ‘out of respect’ and agreed to pay Rs 2.7 crore as her salary along with Rs 30 lakh as service tax. The makers said they spent crores just for the sake of Sridevi. Despite doing so much, she didn’t even come for the film’s audio launch. “She owes us money,” the statement concluded.
