Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film “The Hateful Eight” will see a limited release in 70 mm format this Christmas.

It will then expand in theatres nationwide on January 8, 2016.

Our long relationship with Quentin Tarantino is one of the cornerstones of this company, so it’s incredibly special to us to be releasing his latest film in such a spectacular way on 70mm - we can’t think of a finer Christmas gift to be giving movie lovers and Tarantino fans this year.
– Erik Lomis, The Weinstein Company

The movie will join a crowded holiday frame which includes the Christmas release for Sony’s “Concussion (2015)“ starring Will Smith, Fox’s “Joy” starring Jennifer Lawrence, Warner Bros’ “Point Break” reboot and Open Road’s “Snowden”.

It marks Tarantino’s 8th film after “Django Unchained”, which was also released on Christmas Day in 2012.

The Hateful Eight stars Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern and Demian Bichir.

The Hateful Eight, due out this fall, boasts an impressive roster of talent, including frequent Tarantino collaborators Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and, of course, Samuel L. Jackson. The film was very nearly not made after the script leaked online last year, something Tarantino didn’t take too well. Hopefully it’s worth it, as reported by The Verge.
