‘Tubelight’ Switched Off In Pak, No Distributors For Salman Film

No ‘Tubelight’ in Pakistan.

In a surprising development, Salman Khan’s Tubelight is apparently not being released in Pakistan. According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, no local distributor has come forward to release the film and the reason for this is Salman’s huge popularity in Pakistan.

Here’s the explainer: there are two big Pakistani films releasing for Eid across the border and so local distributors are apprehensive about releasing Salman’s Tubelight and creating competition for their own films.

The report quotes the President of the Indian Film Exporters Association, Hirachand Dand, saying that Pakistani distributors are determined to protect the interest of their own films.

The two big Pakistani releases are Yalghaar and Shor Sharaba, of which the former is being projected as Pakistan’s first ever international fillm and is a tribute to its fight against terrorism.

However, another Pakistani distributor, Amjad Rashi while confirming that no distributor has bought Tubelight, gives a different reason for there being no takers for the Salman film.

I am not the right person to comment but I doubt whether the film will get clearance considering the Indo-China war subject. Salman is no doubt a big star in Pakistan but the film could also face other hurdles as it reflects anti-China sentiments.
