Netflix Acquired ‘Baahubali’ Films for Rs 25.5 Crore

Netflix is very serious about grabbing more eyeballs in India.

Netflix grabbed the streaming rights of India’s biggest blockbusters - Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in a deal worth $4 million, which translates to around Rs 25.5 crore.

According to a report in Mint, the Video On Demand service is super serious about grabbing more eyeballs in India. This deal with Netflix will help the Baahubali films stream in 192 countries across the world.

Netflix is keen on both acquiring content and creating originals for the Indian audience. The streaming giant has three original creations on its slate for India at the moment. Besides Sacred Games, which will be headed by Saif Ali Khan in the cast, they have announced the filming of Selection Day by Aravind Adiga and Again a detective story by Marisha Mukerjee.

According to reports, Netflix will be opening its first office in India in Mumbai later this year.
