Riteish Makes it Rain with ‘Dhagala Lagli’ from ‘Dream Girl’
The makers of the upcoming Ayushmann Khurrana comedy Dream Girl have released the latest song from the film: a remix of the classic Dada Kondke track ‘Dhagala Lagli’ featuring Riteish Deshmukh in a cameo appearance. The new version is sung by Mika Singh & Jyotica Tangri. It has music by Meet Bros and lyrics by Kumaar.
Check the video out.
The song has dropped right in time for Ganesh Chaturthi, and the video is appropriately set in a pandal. Riteish makes his entry in the beginning of the song, telling Ayushmann, “Har Hindi film ka promotional gaana Punjabi mein hota hai. Iss baar Marathi ho jaaye? (Every Hindi film has a promotional song in Punjabi. This time, let’s do Marathi?)” Now that’s a fresh sentiment we agree with!
Ayushmann’s co-star Nushrat Bharucha sports an outfit inspired Madhuri Dixit’s iconic look in ‘Humko Aaj Kal Hai Intezaar’ from Sailaab. Between her matching steps with Ayushmann in the rain and Riteish showing off his swag, Dream Girl’s version of ‘Dhagala Lagli’ should appease die-hard fans, even if most of the lyrics have been changed from the original song.
The original track was from the Marathi comedy Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgulya featuring Dada Kondke and Usha Chauhan. The song received new life in the 90s with a hugely popular remix.
Dream Girl is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. It also stars Manjot Singh, Annu Kapoor and Vijay Raaz. The comedy is set to hit theatres on 13 September.
