Jukebox: Mohammad Aziz Wove His Signature Magic in Bollywood

Veteran singer Mohammed Aziz has passed away from cardiac arrest at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital on 27 November, news agency ANi has reported. He was 64.

The singer was on his way back to Mumbai from Kolkata when he suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to Nanavati Hospital where he was declared dead.

With more than 20,000 songs in his kitty, he is known for famous Bollywood numbers like “My name is Lakhan”, “Mard Taangewala” and more.

After making his debut in the Bengali film Jyoti, Aziz got his Bollywood break with Ambar in 1985. Aziz has worked with Bollywood’s top music directors like Kalyanji-Anandji, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Rahul Dev Burman, Naushad, O P Nayyar, Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik, among many others. He was also one of the leading musicians in the Odia film industry.
