Another song from Madhur Bhandarkar’s much-awaited film Indu Sarkar is out, and Dilli Ki Raat is an ode to the 70s disco. Sung by the man who largely shaped the genre in Bollywood, Dilli Ki Raat is a groovy number reminiscent of several Bappi Lahiri and RD Burman numbers.

The number starts with the declaration ‘Salaam karo dost, ki baap aaye hain’, and you are left wondering throughout whether singer Bappi Lahiri is talking about himself or Sanjay Gandhi, played by Neil Nitin Mukesh. Add to that a thorough retro overdose with bell-bottoms, wigs, disco lights and a very “golden” Bappi Lahiri - and you know what we are talking about.

Sung by the inimitable Lahiri himself and Anmol Malik, and composed by Anu Malik, this song is sure to make waves. But what about the girl in the video? Couldn’t there have been a better effort at lip syncing?
