Fans, Musicians Mourn Swedish DJ-Producer Avicii’s Sudden Demise

Devastated fans said that at the age of 28, Avicii was “gone too soon” and “way too young.”

The news of Swedish DJ Avicii's sudden demise has jolted the entire music fraternity and left his fans heartbroken. The star, born Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman, his publicist Diana Baron confirmed.

The late DJ, famed for taking "electronic house to a whole new level", has churned out many club staples such as ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Levels’.

Moments after the news broke, fans were posting messages with #RIPAvicii on social media. Scores of fans, Avicii’s fellow DJs and record producers from the fraternity were seen grieving his untimely death at the age of 28.

Fellow DJ Calvin Harris was among the first to post on Twitter:

Touting Avicii as a “genius and a music innovator”, pop artist Charlie Puth said that news of his demise has not sunk in yet.

A statement a released by Avicii’s publicist Diana Baron had announced his death.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time.

No cause of death was given and Baron said no further statements would be released.

Avicii was nominated twice for a Grammy Award, once for his work on ‘Sunshine’ with David Guetta in 2012, and once for his song ‘Levels’ in 2013.

According to media reports, the artist had been suffering from acute pancreatitis owing to excessive drinking. He had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014. In 2016, the musician had announced that he was retiring from touring because of health reasons.

The artist had been a regular on the Billboard charts and won a number of American Music Awards, Billboard music awards and MTV Europe music awards for his EDM work.

As the world bids adieu to the Grammy-nominated electronic dance DJ, one can be sure that his legacy will live on to inspire.
