Excerpts from reviews of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan:
Ayushmann Khurrana is very watchable as the 26-year-old boy becoming a man. His growth as an actor is evident in the quieter moments when Mudit broods about his situation and the louder ones when he stands up for his choices. Khurrana and Pednekar share an affable chemistry and she embraces her character with resourcefulness. The cinematography, production design and a crisp 105 minutes running time add to the appeal of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The screenplay manages to walk the line between crass and preachy, keeping the balance between comedy, romance and the sensitivities around a taboo topic. However, a collection of nice moments and thoughts is untidily stitched together.Udita Jhunjhunwala (Scroll.in)

Pednekar and Khurrana are so sweet together and separately, that I wanted to reach out and hug them throughout. That they are good actors is a given. This film further serves to establish that they are lovely together, and could well be our new Deepti Naval-Farooque Sheikh combination. The screenplay and dialogues for the Hindi film have been written by Hitesh Kewalya who manages to neatly capture the milieu in which the film is set while also flirting with sexual innuendo at a few places without ever getting crude.Anna Vetticad (Firstpost.com)
Every single scene of this freewheeling entertainer is peppered with witticism that deserves to be savoured and parroted. But it’s not always an uproarious one-liner -- and rest assured they are there in abundance -- highlighting the broader picture of this wholeheartedly frolicsome rom-com. In a business, where movie stars wear padded underwear to look endowed, it’s refreshing to come across an Ayushmann Khurrana whose willingness to be the poster boy for all those ‘who can’t get it up’ is commendable. With its fine zingers and feisty acknowledgement, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan does more for sex, both noun and verb, than any Hindi film can claim to in a long, long time.Sukanya Verma (Rediff.com)
