SardaarJi’s director Rohit Jugraj Chauhan plays with the wacky theme of a Punjabi ghostbuster here! So we have Diljit, who plays the jat ghostbuster from Punjab, on an assignment to catch a chudail (witch) called Pinky in London, played by Neeru Bajwa. The fun-loving ghostbuster predictably falls in love with Pinky, the witch.
The salsa in the movie is the dance trainer Jasmine, played by Mandy Takhar, who falls in love with Jaggi. So, yes it’s a love triangle, but who gets the boy? Pinky or Jasmine? I won’t tell you that, what’s the fun then.
SardaarJi has a pacy start to it and the jokes are witty as well as wacky, though the second half could have been a little tighter. Dheeraj Rattan’s story of SardaarJi is full on masala with all the ingredients - action, comedy, romance, horror and drama.
Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa share very less screen space, so don’t expect them to recreate the magic of Jatt and Juliet. Surprisingly Mandy Takhar steals the limelight away from Neeru Bajwa, but you won’t miss her in the movie. The songs are short and sweet with full Punjabi swagger. The film solely rests on the acting skills of Diljit and his stardom.
If you’re looking for a no holds barred entertainer, you might want to pick on SardaarJi this weekend.
