If only acting skills could be mixed in a protein shake and gulped down, life would have been easy for so many of our Bollywood adrenaline junkies. In Force 2 we meet John Abraham and realise he is exactly where we left him in Force – at the gym.
Also, he seems to be regularly bench pressing with his eyebrows to get those perfectly wooden expressions! Some things never change! Like a shirtless bod on display with the camera lustily capturing the chiseled curves of our Hulk hero who can lift a whole car without so much as bothering to pluck out the nail stuck in his shoulders.
Three undercover RAW agents have been killed in China. The Indian Authorities are frantically looking for the plausible suspects, but who better than Hulk ACP Yashwardhan (John Abraham) to help solve the case.
Forcing their way into Force 2 is new wave gender equality and over-the-top patriotism. It’s another matter that the film ends up making fun of both!
KK, Kamaljit Kaur, the RAW agent under whom our very own Johnny boy must work, is the most unfit person for the job. Sonakshi Sinha kicked some serious butt in Akira but here it is just ludicrous. And as for the patriotism bandied around – we were glad for the end credits!
But Force 2 is not all together hopeless and that is thanks to Tahir Raj Bhasin. Playing a baddie with affable charm and an evil smirk, Bhasin is on point. Always a step ahead of our hero and his female sidekick, teasing them both with his wit and theatrics, he does manage to keep us on the edge of our seats.
Some of the car chases, therefore, are truly entertaining but the bullet-fest in the climax and the blaring background score undermine the overall effect.
The run time of 126 mins is Force 2’s biggest strength. It is slick and taut and, therefore, qualifies to at least be a one-time watch! I give it 2.5 QUINTS OUT OF 5.
