The All India Bakchod (AIB) Knockout had taken the country by storm two years ago but it’s still haunting Karan Johar, who was an integral part of the ‘notorious’ show. The Mumbai Police department has summoned the filmmaker to give an official statement about the controvercial event that took place in December 2014. That means poor KJo will have to drop in at the Tardeo police station, if he doesn’t intend to piss off any more sarkari officials that is.
The knockout ran into a huge controversy after social activist Santosh Daundkar had approached a city court in February 2015, calling the content of the roast ‘vulgar’. The court then ordered the police to register an FIR and submit an investigation report. Johar was named as an accused in the case, for allegedly saying obscene words during the show. Karan Johar, who is in London right now, reacted to this new development on Twitter.
His tweet might not point directly at his being summoned, but it does hint that he’s pissed off about being told what is acceptable or otherwise for him, and for us all, to say in public.
Not only Karan, the police will also summon actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone to record their statements. The controversial AIB roast featured Karan as the host, while Ranveer and Arjun were roasted amidst more than 4000 people in Mumbai.
