Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, whose Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam, starring Mohanlal and Meena was remade into 4 other Indian languages and also in Sinhalese, is now making his debut in Bollywood.

Jeethu’s Hindi debut is being co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Azure Entertainment and will star Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor. The film will be a horror thriller and will be shot in a single schedule from May to July this year.

“Directing a Hindi feature film has been on the anvil for some time and I have been waiting for the right story. This crime mystery thriller with elements of horror has excited me tremendously and we have got perfect casting for the two protagonists in the film. I am looking forward to start the film at the earliest.”

Emraan Hashmi, whose career has taken a dip over the last few years is pinning his hopes for a success with this one. "I'm really excited about this one. The film will be a riveting, nail biting treat for fans of the genre and with Jeethu at the helm of things , I'm confident the film will be a game changer," says the actor.

Viacom 18 was apparently looking for a suitable subject for Jeethu’s Bollywood debut ever since they picked up his original Malayalam Drishyam to remake with Ajay Devgn in the lead.

Jeethu’s Drishyam, film which released in 2013, was allegedly inspired by The Devotion of Suspect X, a Japanese novel written by Keigo Higashino. However the makers of the film have denied all charges of plagiarism.
