Directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is set around 10 years before the uprising of 1857, and is the story of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who led a rebellion against the British in 1846. The film stars an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Narashima Reddy’s mentor in the film, Tamannaah, Anushka Shetty, Nayanthara, Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi and Jagapathi Babu.

Sye Raa marks Chiranjeevi’s return to the big screen after he stepped away from cinema in 2007 to focus on his political career. The film has been well-received by critics who have praised his memorable performance in particular, along with the grandeur of the cinematography and its background score. The Quint’s Vikram Venkateswaran writes, “I tell you, there’s nothing more fun than to be sucked into the world of a Telugu megastar film. And this one’s the largest and most expensive film that Chiranjeevi’s acted in, ever. And the gamble has paid off.”
