Kannada Actor Edakallu Chandrashekhar Passes Away In Canada

According to reports, Kannada actor Edekallu Chandrashekhar passed away after a heart attack early Saturday morning in Canada. He is survived by his mother, wife Sheela and daughter Tanya.

Chandrashekhar made his debut as a child actor in 1969 in the film Namma Makkalu. While he continued to act as a child artiste, his debut as a lead hero was under filmmaker Putanna Kangal in the film titled Edakallu Guddada Mele in 1973. The film was so successful that Edakallu became stuck as his first name.

Chandrashekhar’s other successful films included Sampathige Saval, Hamsageethe, Raja Nanna Raja, Maagiya Kanasu and Shankar Guru.

The actor moved to Canada after his marriage and worked as a visa officer with the Indian High Commission. But he continued to work in Kannada films and even directed a film titled Poorvapara, which went on to become the first Kannada film to be screened at the Toronto Film Festival in 2004.

Chandrashekhar worked in over 60 films and was last seen in 3 Gante 30 Dina 30 Second which released in January 2018.
