He was first known as detective-extraordinaire Feluda’s side-kick-cum-nephew Topshe. Then we saw him “graduate” to playing the detective himself. Before that though, he took Bollywood and India by storm when he appeared as “that cute police officer” in in Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani.

After giving his audience a healthy dose of murder, soul-swapping and how-to-prevent-suicide tutorials, actor Paramabrata Chattopadhyay is coming out with his new acting and directorial venture – ‘Shonar Pahar’. The film promises a kick-ass cast with actor Tanuja making her come-back to Bengali films after 30 years. And to top it off, we will get to see the evergreen pair of Soumitra Chatterjee and Tanuja on screen once again!
(Yes, we are having a tough time holding back our tears too.)

The movie is a very personal journey on one hand, and on the other hand it is intended to be a very warm-hearted tale of friendship between a 70-year-old-woman and a 7-year-old-boy and the bonding that forms between these two people. One is at the fag end of her life and one is just about to start. How these two form this very, very unique bonding and how that changes their lives now and the lives they were leading before.

The Quint caught up with the actor, asking him about his experience working with Tanuja, playing both Topshe and Feluda and how Bengali actors survive Bollywood with their broken Hindi. We left with some serious talk, some fun anecdotes and lots of expectations from “Shonar Pahar”!
