The trailer for Bhaskar Hazarika’s acclaimed and highly anticipated Assamese film Aamis has been released. Aamis premiered at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year and was the toast of audiences at the recently concluded 21st Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star. This original dark love story is being presented by Anurag Kashyap.

Expressing his excitement, writer-director Bhaskar Hazarika had this to say.

“If I had a penny for each time people asked me for the trailer of Aamis, I’d be a rich fellow by now! So after what feels like an eternity here it is finally. Hope everyone likes it and it motivates them to go watch Aamis when it releases.”
Bhaskar Hazarika

Anurag Kashyap echoed the sentiment, and further added:

“I’m really excited to see how audiences will respond and react to Aamis. So, mark the date - Aamis releases on 22nd November in Assam and beyond!”
Anurag Kashyap

This is the first time Kashyap is presenting an Assamese film.

An intriguing tale of dark love, Aamis is set in modern-day Guwahati. The film stars debutants Lima Das and Arghadeep Barua, while Neetali Das, Sagar Saurabh, and Manash K Das comprise the supporting cast. Aamis has been produced by Poonam Deol and Shyam Bora, in association with Wishberry Films. This is Bhaskar’s second film after the National Award winning Kothanodi.

Aamis has received two awards at the recently concluded Singapore South Asian International Film Festival, Best Director for Bhaskar Hazarika and Best Actress for Lima Das. The film will release in Assam and selected cities of India on 22 November.

The release is being facilitated by MovieSaints across theatres in Assam and online for rest of India at moviesaints.com. The film will also be screened in different cities on request (Create Your Own Show) at both traditional and non-traditional venues. Interested people can fill up the details on the website and MovieSaints will bring the film to them once they achieve the minimum threshold audience.
