Taylor Swift killed it at the 2015 Billboard Music awards in Vegas. She took home eight awards including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Streaming Song.
But the grand evening was also packed with a ton of action and rocking stage performances.
Nicki Minaj started with her melancholy single The Night is Still Young. She also induced members of the audience including Taylor Swift to shake a leg to her Hey Mama performance in collaboration with DJ David Guetta.
Chris Brown and Pitbull, after their introduction from Jennifer Lopez jammed up for a super collaboration. Don’t you love Chris Brown’s metallic red suit?! Check out a video of their stage performance below:
Chris Brown walked the red carpet with his 11-month old daughter Royalty. The toddler sat happily in her father’s arms wearing a peach tutu dress, a white jacket and mini boots.
Mariah Carey’s performance was less than perfect, sadly. The superstar failed to hit her signature high notes after falling ill just days before the show. She’s also been fighting bronchitis for some time now.
Ed Sheeran performed an acoustic version of his new single Bloodstream.
The popular band One Direction took home the Top Group/Duo award. They were also named Top Touring Artist, making it a happy night for the band, in what was one of their first public appearances since former band member Zayn Malik walked away from the group. Their fans were delighted to see Liam Payne give a shout-out to their ‘brother’ Zayn saying, “there’s one more person to share this with and that’s our brother Zayn, so thank you very much.”
Kanye West opened his two-song set with an extravagant and smoky performance of All Day from his upcoming album, Swish. West was hardly visible covered in plumes of smoke and his track All Day had to be continuously bleeped out. West then went on to rock the evening with Black Skinhead before ending his five-minute appearance. He closed the award night but the fans weren’t too impressed.
