The fate of Netflix original show, Sacred Games hangs in the balance after #MeToo storm hit India. The second season of its hugely popular series Sacred Games, which is an adaptation of a novel of the same name, might just be cancelled. However, for now, an official statement from Netflix says: “At this time we are evaluating options on the path forward.”

The news follows the controversy that has surrounded the show’s directors Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, who also produced it under the banner of their erstwhile production company Phantom Films. Shortly after allegations of sexual harassment against the house’s third partner Vikas Bahl surfaced, Kashyap announced that Phantom Films would be disbanding.

Screenwriter and lyricist Varun Grover, one of the show’s three writers, has also been named as an alleged harasser in the ongoing #MeToo movement. He has denied all claims and has received support from Kashyap.

Last year, Netflix fired actor Kevin Spacey from its hit show House of Cards after he was accused of sexual harassment. It was subsequently decided that the show’s sixth would be its last, which is scheduled to premier on 2 November.
