Netflix Makes Largest India Investment With Sacred Games 2: Report
We are anxiously waiting for the second season of Sacred Games, which will release on 15 August. As the game gets bigger, the budget has also increased. According to a report in LiveMint, Netflix has made the biggest India investment with Sacred Games 2. It has spent Rs 100 crores on the series, the most a streaming platform has invested in creating original content in India, industry experts have said.
They also added that the most an Indian web show has spent for around 12 episodes would be Rs 3-4 crores per episode.
Director of international originals at Netflix India, Neha Sinha told LiveMint that they wanted to make Sacred Games season 2 “much bigger and better”. As promised in the number of clips that the makers have released to keep our curiosity piqued, the game is set to become even more complex and murky in this new season. So, the promotions have also been grander this time.
Secondly, the show has two different narrative tracks. Anurag Kashyap has filmed portions with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neeraj Ghaywan with Saif Ali Khan. Media and entertainment industry experts have also said that Sacred Games is a big-ticket show, so Netflix is naturally very enthusiastic about it.
The latest clip dropped by Netflix shows Guruji aka Pankaj Tripathi give advice in his menacingly calm voice. “What God couldn’t do, man will”, he says as we are taken back to all the deaths in season 1. We also see Ganesh Gaitonde being tortured in custody.
