The teaser for season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s Comicstaan has been released. The show features aspiring comedians competing to make it big. This season will be hosted by Urooj Ashfaq and feature established comics such as Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kaneez Surka, Sumukhi Suresh, Zakir Khan and Neeti Palta as judges and mentors to the contestants.
Biswa “takes comedy to new heights” in the short clip which is set on a plane. The passengers and crew begin to panic as they encounter turbulence. While everyone is reaching for their oxygen masks, he takes the opportunity to lighten the mood with a joke.
Comicstaan premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2018 as a nine-episode series with 10 contestants competing for the winning title. Each episode features a judge who trains the participants in different styles of comedy such as observational, sketch, anecdotal and improv. The streaming platform dropped All India Bakchod members Tanmay Bhatt and Gursimran Khamba after #MeToo allegations against the comedians surfaced. Bhatt was accused of not taking action against one of AIB’s collaborators Utsav Chakraborty, despite being cognisant of multiple complaints of sexual harassment against him, and Khamba faced allegations of sexual misconduct.
Season 2 of Comicstaan will be available on Amazon Prime Video from 12 July.
