Excerpts from reviews of Force 2:

Abraham is not called upon to exercise his facial muscles, and he is efficient as the world-weary policeman who has forgotten to smile after his wife’s death. Sonakshi Sinha is less convincing as KK. Sinha has hacked away at her voluptuous body and domestic goddess image to refashion herself as an action heroine in Akira and now Force 2, but she is never convincing as a ground operative. This tribute to RAW is undercooked, but it manages to retain its crowd-pleasing flavour. The action is nasty and short, and before any “what just happened” questions can be asked, ACP Yash delivers yet another punch. It’s not quite India’s answer to the Mission: Impossible films, but at least on the thrills front, it’s halfway there.

It is not easy to find a film that does not promise an iota more of anything than it intends to deliver, and then efficiently delivers on that promise. Force 2 is an intense action flick that serves up slick stunts and technical finesse to support its straight-laced storytelling style. Force 2 is not earth-shatteringly memorable, but it is fun. Abhinay Deo must share a large part of the credit for that with action director Franz Spilhaus, cinematographers Mohana Krishna and Imre Juhasz who make us participants in the proceedings, Amitabh Shukla & Sanjay Sharma’s sharp editing and the doggedness of John Abraham’s bath towel that does not get dislodged from his waist until the very end of an extended, physically challenging fight. This is the kind of film we Bollywood buffs like to call paisa vasool.

Abhinay Deo ticks all the right boxes in this edge of the seat high octane entertainer that is Force 2. John Abraham’s introductory scene reminds us why he’s such a hit with the masses. Tahir Bhasin is menacing in an utterly unconventional way. Force 2 is a great watch mainly because it stays true to its genre and provides ample adrenaline rush. John Abraham is in top form and the film has some of the best action sequences shot this year. Force 2 has loads of bang worth your buck.
