Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Puli co-starring Sridevi, is all set to release on October 1 in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Here are five reasons why you might not want to miss this big budget fantasy action-adventure film.
1. A Big Budget Fantasy Film Finally...
While Tamil filmmakers continue to grab everyone’s attention across the globe, fantasy films remained an untouched genre in K-town. Now after a long time, Puli is touted to be an authentic fantasy flick in Tamil cinema. The mammoth tortoise, the troll, large birds, dwarfs and majestic castles in the trailer have already attracted lot of attention. “I have done couple of fantasy flicks including Imsai Arasan and Irumbukottai Murattu Singam, but the reach of Puli is amazing thanks to Vijay”, said Chimbu Deven, the director of this film in an exclusive chat.
2. Superstar Vijay in a Different Avatar
Rarely do superstars in Tamil cinema attempt anything unusual. A regular action entertainer would be more than enough for these leading heroes to satisfy their fans, but Puli comes as a total surprise from Vijay, who is known for playing to the gallery. So it would be interesting to see how Vijay steps into the shoes of this unique character sketched by Chimbu Deven. The director says “Puli will have all the elements of a Vijay movie but at the same time it will satisfy the fantasy lovers too”.
3. Sridevi’s Comeback After 29 Years
Sridevi’s last Tamil film was Naan Adimai Illai with Rajinikanth, which released way back in 1986. Now, almost 3 decades years Sridevi is making a comeback in Tamil films. Talking about her character in the film, the actress has said it is once-in-a-lifetime role. For fans, who missed seeing Sridevi on the silver screen, can now watch her in Puli, in which she plays a majestic queen with magical powers.
4. 2200 VFX Shots
Veteran VFX specialist, RC Kamalakannan has supervised the VFX work of Puli. Among all the films he has worked on, Puli has the most number of VFX shots. Kamalakannan has worked on some of notable VFX-laden movies including Rajamouli’s Magadheera and Naan Ee which had 1200 and 1700 VFX shots respectively. The VFX work of Puli was completed in seven different places including Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Sweden, Chennai, Bangalore and Netherlands. So, the film is going to be a visual extravaganza!
5. The Huge Ensemble Cast
When was the last time you saw a movie featuring an ensemble cast of multiple superstars? Puli has Vijay, Sridevi, Shruti Haasan, Hansika, Kannada superstar Sudeep, Prabhu, Sathyan and National award winning actor Thambi Ramaiah among many others. Take it from us, it doesn’t get any bigger than this for a Tamil fantasy action adventure movie.
