1. Watch: Bollywood Condemns the Kathua Gangrape & Murder of a Minor

Bollywood usually prefers to remain silent over many burning issues. But the barbarism of the alleged abduction, brutal gangrape and killing of an 8-year-old Bakheral girl in Kathua - a political ploy aimed at ousting the nomadic community from the area in Jamm and Kashmir - has roused B-towners and other celebs.

While the usual articulate voices from the industry expressed their opinions on Twitter, some others also spoke up and pointed out the deplorable law and order situation in the country. Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were among the actors who chose to air their views on the case on social media.

The announcement of Sridevi’s name for Best Actress for the National Awards for her performance in Mom was an emotional moment for Boney Kapoor. When The Quint got in touch with Kapoor for his reaction to the news, the veteran producer could not hold back his tears. Kapoor was completely overwhelmed on hearing the news of the honour being given to Sridevi, who passed away on 24 February this year.

“I’m too overwhelmed. I wish she was here. It’s her first, so many things come to mind, I wish she was here.”

Right before October hits screens, The Quint got a chance to catch up with writer Juhi Chaturvedi, the brilliant mind behind films like Vicky Donor and Piku. While chatting, Juhi spoke about her latest film, the craft of screenwriting, her idea of love and her favourite love stories.

I have not gone to any writing school, I’ve not read books (on screenwriting), I’ve not attended workshops, for me it is this process, that there is no structured ways of doing things, that has worked so far. Of course, I have a basic idea of what I am writing towards.
