While the news of the Dhaka terror attack, Zakir Naik’s controversial preachings, Salman Khan’s Sultan, Burhan Wani’s killing, the unrest in Kashmir dominated most of the trends on social media over the last week, a name that kept consistently trending no matter how big the other newsmakers were was - Divyanka Tripathi.
Even Divyanka Can’t Believe She’s Been Trending For Days!
News and pictures of the lady’s sangeet, mehendi ceremony, wedding, reception (phew!) kept topping charts for over a week, which leads us to the quesion – who is Divyanka Tripathi?
For those who aren’t regular viewers of desi TV soaps – Divyanka is the new popular small screen diva on the prime time block. The actress is mostly known for her hit series on Star Plus called Ye Hai Mohabbatein.
But that’s just the tip of Divyanka’s iceberg of outstanding achievements. The actress has actually completed a course in mountaineering from Uttarkashi and a rifle shooting course from Bhopal’s Rifle Academy.
And this was before she hosted shows on Akash Vani, aced a teen beauty pageant contest, won a star talent hunt and got crowned Miss Bhopal (2005)!
Divyanka jumped from an acting debut in Doordarshan to being the reigning queen on Star Plus in just a few years having acted in shows like Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, Sshhh... Phir Koi Hai, Mr & Mrs Sharma Allahabadwale before hitting big time withYe Hai Mohabbatein.
But the biggest eye-grabber of them all seems to be her wedding to co-star Vivek Dahiya.
Photographs of Divyanka and Vivek’s sangeet, mehendi and wedding were trending both on Facebook and Twitter for an entire a week. They now seem to be outranked only by the global interest in Pokemon Go!
Here’s to the small screen girl who beat Salman Khan and Rajinikanth on social media, and that’s no mean achievement!
