Daud writer, Phir Hera Pheri director and popular comic actor Neeraj Vora passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 54 at Criticare Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. He had slipped into coma after suffering from a near-fatal combination of a heart attack and a brain stroke on 19 October last year.
The confirmation came from his friend and actor Paresh Rawal on Twitter.
Neeraj's younger brother Uttank Vora said that the actor’s body will be taken to Firoz Nadiadwala's house Barkat from where he will be taken to the Santa Cruz Electric Crematorium at 3 pm.
A close friend, Nadiadwala had reportedly converted a room at his home into a make-shift Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for Vora, for the entire time that he was in coma.
Vora wrote the screenplay for many films like Rangeela, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Hera Pheri. He also wrote the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer TV show Circus and acted in films like Mann, Daud, Golmaal and Virasat. As a director, Vora was known for his outings like Phir Hera Pheri and Khiladi 420.
He was to direct Hera Pheri 3, but uncertainty loomed large over the project after he suffered a stroke in October 2016.
