Lipstick Under My Burkha has finally been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for us lesser mortals, and the film is finally getting a release in India. Winning several awards across the globe, the film has been directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, and stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Plabita Borthakur and Aahana Kumra.

The film came into controversy when the CBFC refused to certify the film on the basis of it being “lady-oriented”.
The story is lady-oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contanious [sic] sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society.Statement by CBFC
