Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor Hina Khan has signed on her first international project, a film based on HG Wells’ short story The Country of the Blind. The film is set in the 1800s and is about the inhabitants of a secluded valley who, though visually impaired, live without interacting with the outside world. Hina will play the protagonist, a blind woman who is part of this community.
Speaking about the film Hina said in a statement, “This project is very close to my heart because whatever we did in this film has been a new benchmark and there were no examples of any kind as a reference. Everything in this film is one of kind and we hope people will love it.”
The film has been directed by Rahat Kazmi and the cast includes Shoib Nikash Shah and Airlift actor Inaamul Haq as the antagonist. It has been produced by Rahat Kazmi Films and Tariq Khan Productions, Co-Production of Hiro’s Faar Better Films & Turn Key Films (USA) and will release in both English and Hindi.
Dressed in a floor-length sequinned gown, Hina Khan made heads turn on the red carpet at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival in May.
She unveiled the poster for her debut film Lines, which is set against the backdrop of the Kargil War, at the festival. It also stars Farida Jalaal and Rishi Bhutani in pivotal roles.
