New day, new Avengers: Endgame theory. It’s been very frustrating for Marvel fans how little we know about the upcoming sequel, particularly after Avengers: Infinity War ended with such a shocking cliffhanger. According to one theory that’s been going around, Doctor Strange may have delayed giving the Time Stone to Thanos to make sure certain things happened the way he wanted them to.
To recap, Doctor Strange uses the Time Stone to peer into 14 million possible futures before realizing that only in one of them would the Avengers be victorious against Thanos. Only Strange knew what events had to occur in which order for that reality to happen.
The latest theory by Reddit user Smegsaiah speculates that Ant-Man a.k.a. Scott Lang had to be stranded in the Quantum Realm while the Pyms were turned into ash during Thanos’ Decimation. This leads one to believe that Ant-Man is vital to defeating Thanos.
“This means Strange gave away the Time Stone at the perfect moment that would make the snap happen while Scott was in the quantum realm.”
Smegsaiah adds, “I personally believe this because giving away the time stone was something strange had total control over, as he kept it super hidden until he needed it. Also keep in mind strange only would’ve known the winning outcome was made by the right action at the right time, he had no idea what happened in Wakanda or why doing what he did worked, it wasn’t about saving Tony’s life or the avengers overcoming a probability of 1/14,000,000 — It was about things happening in a very very specific timeframe.”
This theory makes a lot of sense but we will have to wait to find out. Avengers: Endgame will release in theatres on April 26, 2019.
