Iranian master Majid Majidi’s upcoming film Beyond the Clouds, which introduces Shahid Kapoor’s baby brother Ishaan Khatter, traverses the way most foreign filmmakers do when they make a film on India. The focus is on life below the poverty line (comparisons to Slumdog Millionaire is inevitable here). In Majidi’s hands though, one might expect something magical to come out of it.
Beyond the Clouds, whose second trailer has just been released, revolves around an orphan battling life in the slums and looking for an easy route to riches. And then, fortune plays its own card to make his sister, Tara (played by Malavika) pay for his crimes.

Ishaan promises to be a talent to reckon with his intense act (and is as good a dancer as his brother), while Malavika Mohanan is nothing short of riveting. Beyond the Clouds was screened at IFFI 2017 in Goa and releases on 20 April 2018.
