Work on the sequel to Aquaman has begun with Warner Bros. hiring David Leslie and Johnson McGoldrick to write the script for the film. The original movie, which stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, William Dafoe and Nicole Kidman, earned over $1 billion internationally a month after its release, becoming DC’s most successful film after The Dark Knight. Aquaman 2 will be produced by Aquaman director James Wan and Peter Safran.
Warner Bros. has also announced an Aquaman spinoff horror movie titled The Trench, which will also be produced by Wan and Safran. The director and cast of the film are yet to be determined.
