The 71st Cannes Film Festival opened on 8 May with the screening of Asghar Farhadi’s Everybody Knows. The popular 10 day movie extravaganza held by the French Riviera was declared open by Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese and actor Cate Blanchett. The first Cannes edition since the #MeToo campaign broke out in Hollywood, the festival has established a hotline for sexual harassment victims.
The jury members at the Cannes festival this year are - Cate Blanchett, Taiwanese actor Chang Chen, American actor Kristen Stewart, African singer - songwriter Khadja Nin, filmmaker Ava DuVernay, French writer and producer Robert Guediguian, French actor Lea Seydoux, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and Russian filmmaker Andrei Zvyagintsev.
