TV actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who was grilled for several hours by police in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar in connection with diamond merchant and builder, Rajeswar Kishorlal Udhani's murder, tweeted to say she’s back home.
“Hello frens...thanks for your love & caring..I am safe & home nd there is nothing to get worried about..It was an investigation as I know the person who got killed..an official statement has been already given by the department..All is well!!:),” she wrote.
Actor-turned-politician Sachin Pawar, said to be closely acquainted with the victim, has been arrested in the case.
Devoleena hails from Assam’s Sivasagar and was born to a Bengali father and an Assamese mother. She now lives in Mumbai, reportedly with her mother and brother. A trained Bharatnatyam dancer, she also also done a course in jewellery designing and development from NIFT, Delhi.
Her acting stints began with school plays. According to NELive, while she was working with GILI in Mumbai, Devoleena signed the dotted line for a show, Kudesan, which was later scrapped. Her first TV break came with NDTV Imagine’s Saware Sabke Sapne Preeto, where she played Bani Kaur Dhillon, the youngest of five sisters.
The 28-year-old also auditioned for dance reality show Dance India Dance 2. Fame however, came calling when she landed the role of Gopi bahu in the Star Plus series Saath Nibhana Saathiya. She played the role for six years till the show went off air and she took a break for a surgery.
Devoleena recently made her comeback on TV this year with an episode of Laal Ishq, a series that focuses on romances with a supernatural twist. According to some reports, she was in talks for Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka but lost out on the project as she demanded an exorbitant fee. She is reportedly doing Kuch Naye Rishte, another show for Colors titled opposite a newcomer.
The actor earlier made headlines in March 2018 when her bank account got hacked and she reportedly lost Rs 16 lakh.
Devoleena’s social media profile is proof that she loves travelling and has spent most of her time off the sets on the road.
She’s also a fan of champion boxer Mary Kom.
She’s majorly into fitness of course.
And she also loves baking.
She adores her dog, Angel.
