Aadhaar Film Is Neither Pro nor Anti, It’s Neutral: Viineet Kumar
Viineet Kumar says he is ecstatic that the film is all set to premiere at 20th Busan Film Festival on 6 October.
Aadhaar, directed by Suman Ghosh, is all set to premiere at 20th Busan Film Festival on 6 October. Viineet Kumar, who plays the main lead in the film, will be present for the screening with the makers. The film is set in 2011, when enrollments began for the Unique Identification Authority of India’s one-card-fits all project. Aadhaar is about the travails of a potter (Viineet) from Jharkhand, who goes to the booth to get his card.
The Quint spoke to Viineet, who told us how excited he is about the film going to the Busan Film Festival:
“I am going to the Busan film festival for the first time and I am ecstatic. The moment I got this news I knew it will be a new experience for me. I have seen the rough cut of the film and I really liked it. All the performances in the film are great. It feels good when your work gets featured in such a big platform like an international film festival. I am very happy and excited.”Viineet Kumar, Actor
When asked if the film is critical of the Aadhaar card requirement or for it, Viineet says that the film takes a neutral stand.
“When I read the film’s script, my director was very clear about one thing, which I also believe in. It’s neither pro nor anti, it’s very neutral and has an objective perspective. It’s a beautiful story, which we have tried to tell in a very objective way. It’s just a story of a person and what all he had to go through to get the card.”Viineet Kumar, Actor
Directed by Suman Ghosh, the film also has Saurabh Shukla, Raghubir Yadav and Sanjay Mishra in supporting roles. The music is by Shantanu Moitra. Aadhaar is all set to hit theatres on 6 December.
