After being attacked by an unknown assailant after a concert in Vancouver, singer Guru Randhawa is back in India and has received four stitches on his eyebrow. He put up a photograph of himself on Instagram and wrote about the incident in detail.
“Guru is back in India with four stitches on his right eyebrow and mega successful USA/Canada tour. The incident happened on 28th July in Vancouver when Guru told one punjabi man not to come on stage while he was performing for the audience. That man was trying to come on stage again and again and then he started fighting with everyone backstage. He was known to the local promoter Surinder Sanghera who sent him away during the show,” his management wrote on Instagram.
“But at the end when Guru finished the show and was leaving the stage, that punjabi man came and hit him hard on his face with a punch , because of which Guru started bleeding on the spot from his forehead above eyebrow and went back to stage and showed it to the audience. That man was with few others and whosoever tried to stopped them, they were punching them and then they all ran away. Guru is home now feeling safe in India”Guru Randhawa’s Management
As per statements of those who attended the concert, the assaulter was behaving badly during the performance and followed Guru outside afterwards. Police and paramedics arrived at the spot immediately but it is unconfirmed whether the attacker was apprehended.
In a photo doing the rounds of social media, supposedly taken immediately after the attack, Guru looks bruised and shaken as he tends to his head with a cloth. One Twitter user shared the pic, writing, “#GuruRandhawa was treated badly during #Vancouver show by #Punjabi youth in #Canada. It is totally unacceptable to become physical with any of performer, specifically in #Canada. Picture was clicked right after #GuruRandhawa was beaten.”

Guru is popular for his Punjabi language pop songs like ‘Lahore,’ ‘Patola’ and ‘High-Rated Gabru.’ He has also contributed to Bollywood films with songs like ‘Suit Suit’ from Hindi Medium and ‘Morni Banke’ from Badhaai Ho. His latest track ‘Slowly Slowly’ featured American rapper Pitbull and was released in April.
